Keith and Kathy Layton, East Coast transplants, opened the first “The Cheese Steak Shop” in San Francisco in 1982 to bring authentic Philly-style sandwiches to the Bay Area. Each shop prepares sandwiches fresh to order, offering customizable options like onions (“wit or witout”), white American or Provolone cheese, hot or sweet peppers, and alternatives such as chicken or veggies instead of steak. Dedicated to authenticity, The Cheese Steak Shop proudly serves sandwiches the “Real Philly” way.
