There are more medals coming to Suisun Valley as Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company was again awarded high honors for their local, sustainably farmed and milled olive oils. The results from the Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition were just announced, and Il Fiorello was awarded a Best of Show, a Best of Class, a Gold Medal, three Silver Medals, and a Bronze Medal.

The Los Angeles competition, now in its 20th year, is ranked in the top 5 olive oil competitions in the world. Il Fiorello won Best of Show, Best of Class, and a Gold Medal for its Lemon Co-Milled Olive Oil, and Silver Medals for its Mandarin Co-Milled Olive Oil, Lime Co-Milled Olive Oil, and Kaffir Lime Co-Milled Olive Oil, an exciting new flavor for them this year. Their organic Italian Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil won a Bronze Medal.

“This last year was a really tough one with the olive harvest being down 80% over the prior year.” said Ann Sievers, owner/miller of Il Fiorello. “With so few olives to mill”, she added, “We were fortunate to have any oil to submit to the Competition.”

Il Fiorello hosts a Visitor Center on Mankas Corner Road in beautiful Suisun Valley near Fairfield. Open daily from 11a.m.-5 p.m., visitors can experience tastings of world-class olive oils with food pairings, unique balsamic vinegar reductions, as well as sustainably grown Californian wines and local craft beers. With an expanded food menu, specially curated wines and beers, available by the glass or bottle, can be enjoyed in the tasting room, or out on the patio or peaceful grounds, with charcuterie or small plate appetizers. Private and group tastings and tours are available by reservation.
